Helton was a four-year starter for the Whitman College football team. He accomplished the unprecedented achievement of being a unanimous first-team All-Northwest Conference selection on both offense and defense, but he was much more than just a great football player. Chris chose Whitman out of his desire to be a true student-athlete. He was and remains a renaissance man. Chris was the lead violinist in the college orchestra his freshman year, performing a solo in one of their presentations. He completed a major in Pre-Med and Philosophy. And that was only the beginning.

Chris earned an MBA in Finance from the Business School at Columbia University. He was the Director of Research for the Trust Department at Security Pacific Bank in Las Angeles for eight years, providing stock market recommendations and economic forecasts. For three years he was the Director of Equity at the Bank of America in Las Angeles. And for seven years he was the Senior Research Analyst for United Capital Financial Advisors LLC in Seattle, writing a monthly investment newsletter.

Clearly Chris Helton excelled at his chosen sport to a level achieved by very few student-athletes in the history of the College. Just as clearly Chris has represented his Alma Mater in a manner that brings pride to Whitman Athletics and to the College.
