Women's Lacrosse Tramples Boxers, Remains Perfect In NWC

SPOKANE, Wash. - For the second time in as many days, the Whitman College women's lacrosse team dominated its opponent, today topping Pacific 17-5 on a snowy Sunday afternoon at the Whitworth Pine Bowl to improve to a perfect 2-0 in the Northwest Conference.

Erin Magnuson led the charge with a match-high six goals and Madeleine Sherry chipped in four goals and scooped up five groundballs. Taylor Alclair led the Boxers (0-2, 0-2 NWC) with three goals.

The match had been relocated from Whitman to the Whitworth campus due to inclement weather in Walla Walla.

Whitman (3-1, 2-0 NWC) asserted its dominance after putting up a 6-1 lead through one quarter. Alclair opened the scoring only seconds into the game, but the Blues responded with six unanswered including three straight goals from Magnuson. Sherry, Eliza Daigle and Gracie Maulik each added another inside of five minutes to conclude the impressive opening quarter.

The Blues extended their lead to eight goals by halftime. Maulik scored two in the period with Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky getting in on the action with her goal with six minutes to play.

Korin Wheaton and the Whitman defense were stalwart throughout the match, allowing only three more Boxer goals in the second half.

The Blues have a quick turnaround and travel to Whitworth for a Tuesday matchup set for 4:00 p.m.
