NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Whitman College women's lacrosse junior goalkeeper
Renn Novak has been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-West Region Second Team, the association announced Friday from its national office.
Novak is the latest Blue to earn regional recognition from the IWLCA after anchoring a Whitman defense that produced a program-record season, including the program's first Northwest Conference Tournament championship and an inaugural trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Novak's regional honor is only the third for the program since its onset in 2015, and first since 2019.
Novak joins an exclusive list of Division III goalkeepers honored by the nation's lacrosse coaches and is now eligible for IWLCA All-American consideration when those teams are announced later this month.
The Mercer Island, Wash., product turned in one of the most complete seasons by a Whitman goalie with her play earning her Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a spot on the All-NWC First Team. Her nine-save performance in the league title game helped lift the Blues over Willamette, 10-6, for the program's first NWC Tournament crown.
For Novak, the honor caps a year in which she helped redefine the program's defensive identity.
