PREVIEW: Women's Lacrosse Heads To First NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS - The Whitman College women's lacrosse team is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history and will open against regional power Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a first-round matchup hosted by Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

The Blues (13-6) earned their inaugural NCAA Tournament berth as the 2026 national bracket was announced Monday, marking a milestone moment for the program. Whitman topped Willamette in this past weekend's NWC Tournament final to earn the league's automatic qualifier.

Whitman will travel to Southern California for its debut on the national stage, joining an opening-weekend pod on the campus of Pomona-Pitzer who will serve as the host institution for the opening-round pod, with games played at the Sagehens' Merritt Field

CMS enters the postseason as one of the SCIAC's traditional contenders, regularly appearing in the conference and NCAA postseason picture.

The winner between Whitman and CMS will play host Pomona-Pitzer the following afternoon with hopes of advancing to the next weekend's regional rounds.

Live scoring and streaming links, along with the Tournament Central page will be forthcoming.
