SALEM, Ore. - In their final preparation for the Northwest Conference Spring Classic, the Whitman College men's and women's golf teams delivered fine showings at the two-day Willamette Valley Cup which concluded on Sunday at the Creekside Golf Club.

Both squads climbed up the standings on the final day as the women's team placed third and the men's team came in fourth.

Katya Kurkoski led the way in the women's competition, shooting one stroke better on Sunday's final round to finish 13 over 157 and in a tie for fifth. Down the leaderboard were Beatrice Archer (t-13th, +18), Cindy Luo (t-18th, +21) and Malaina Sidhu (t-25th, +26). Luo and Sidhu both shot better on Sunday's final round.

Alexander Knox paced Whitman on the men's side, placing in a tie for sixth after finishing with an even par. Mason Remington followed Knox with a 14th-place finishing after firing six strokes better in today's round for a two over par.

Down the individual leaderboard were Ben Sweet (t-17th, +3) and Eshan Singh who finished just outside the top 25 (t-28th, +6).

The NWC Spring Classic will take place April 6-7 in Tacoma, Wash.
