Men's Golf Surges, Makes Cut At NCAA Championship

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Whitman College men's golf team continued to make history, making the cut after closing Day 2 in 15th place in the NCAA Men's Golf Championship on Wednesday at the Legacy Golf Club.

With the top 18 advancing to Thursday and Friday's final round, the Blues entered the day on the outside looking in but, after firing five strokes better for 10 over par in today's round, they shot four strokes better and moved up five spots and finished the round 15th on the overall leaderboard.

Alexander Knox and Ben Sweet led the surge for Whitman and now sit tied for 31st on the individual leaderboard after shooting an even par with 10 others through 36 rounds of play.

Also pacing the Blues were Mason Remington at three over 144, Jack Garnsey at eight over 152 and Eshan Singh at 10 over 154.

Day 3 and the championship round gets underway on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. at the Boulder Creek Golf Course.
