Harrington Shines, Cross Country Closes Season At NCAA West Regional

CLAREMONT, Calif. — The Whitman College cross country teams concluded their 2025 season on Saturday with a competitive showing at the NCAA Division III West Regional, hosted by Pomona-Pitzer College.

The men's team placed 12th in the 8K race, led by junior Jack McManus, who turned in a standout effort to finish inside the top 40 of a talented field. McManus clocked a time of 26:34, pacing the Blues to a solid team performance in their final meet of the fall.

On the women's side, Whitman secured a 13th-place team finish in the 6K. Sophomore Ella Harrington capped her breakout season with an impressive 14th-place result, racing to a time of 22:34.8 against the region's top runners.

"The women's team had a historic season," praised head coach Scott Shields who also noted Harrington's possible qualification to the NCAA Nationals. "Not only finishing the highest in the Conference since 2019 but also highest regional finish as a team. Ella's performance was the best women's finish since Whitney Rich in 2019. The men's team had a great day as well. They bounced back and achieved the goal of a higher conference finish beating both LC and Willamette who got us at conference. And now top 12 in Region. Great team finish."

The results mark the conclusion of another competitive season for the Blues as a team, who continued to develop depth and consistency across both programs.
