Women's Lacrosse Dominates UPS On Senior Day

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Whitman College women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season in emphatic fashion, rolling past the University of Puget Sound 23-2 in Northwest Conference action Sunday afternoon at James Hayner Field.

Before the opening draw, Whitman honored seniors Jessie Levine, Teagan Huff and Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky in a pregame ceremony, then carried that emotion straight into a 5-0 first-quarter start and a 10-1 halftime lead. The Blues finished the regular season at 11-6 overall and 7-1 in NWC play, while the Loggers dropped to 4-12 and 0-8 in the conference.
Whitman now sets its sights on next weekend's NWC Tournament which will be hosted by George Fox who won the league's regular season crown.

Pasena-Littlesky and Lola McConaghy powered a balanced Whitman attack with five goals apiece, as the Blues outshot Puget Sound 38-7 and posted scoring margins of 5-0, 5-1, 8-0 and 5-1 by quarter. Pasena-Littlesky added an assist for a six-point afternoon, while McConaghy needed just seven shots for her five goals.

Sarah Hawkins and Serafin Miller each turned in six-point efforts to key Whitman's offense. Hawkins totaled two goals and a game-high four assists, and Miller finished with three goals, one assist and a team-best nine draw controls as Whitman dominated the circle 22-5.

Emily Odegaard (three goals, one assist) and Huff (two goals) also scored multiple times, with Huff collecting seven draw controls to help Whitman control possession throughout. Grace Galanes chipped in two goals and an assist, and Ellie Milesi added a goal and two assists as 10 different Blues recorded at least one point.

Whitman led 10-0 before Puget Sound got on the board late in the second quarter on a goal from Cat Schilli, who scored both Loggers tallies on the day. Schilli's first, with 4:00 left in the half, briefly cut the margin to 10-1, but Whitman responded with eight of the next nine goals to remove any doubt.

The Blues converted three of four free-position attempts and finished a near-perfect 13-for-14 on clears while holding the Loggers to 7-for-10. Whitman also owned a 25-19 edge in ground balls and forced 21 Puget Sound turnovers.

Renn Novak started in goal and made three saves while allowing one goal in the first half before giving way to Kenzie Cain, who recorded one save and one goal allowed over the final 30 minutes. Puget Sound goalkeeper Ebeth Kline finished with 10 saves under constant pressure.
