Women's Lacrosse Too Much For Whittier

WHITTIER, Calif. - Madeleine Sherry delivered another dominant performance, posting game highs of eight goals and four assists to lift the Whitman College women's lacrosse team to an impressive 18-4 win at Whittier College on Wednesday at Memorial Stadium.

Gracie Maulik had a stellar day of her own with a career-high seven goals for the Blues (5-2) who scored nine goals in each half. Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky scored two goals and logged three assists, and Andrea Garcia scooped up a game-high seven groundballs.

Juliana Hodgson led the Poets with three goals.

In goal for the Blues, Korin Wheaton played a full 60 minutes and posted four saves. Haley Hughes-Gil started in goal for Whittier and posted eight saves and Payton Vannatter made nine saves after entering midway through the first half.

Despite the big win, it took a bit for the Blues to get into gear. Whitman was held scoreless until 6:34 remaining in the first quarter until Pasena-Littlesky fired one in between the pipes. Sherry, Izzy Eggerling and Maulik all then added goals before the period finished.

Sherry and Maulik continued to provide the offense heading into the second quarter. Sherry scored three in the period, two in the final minute, with Maulik adding two more to make it a 9-2 lead at the break.

Whitman will have one week off before returning to conference play against Whitworth. The Blues and Bucs will square off at Hayner Field on Wednesday, March 20 at 5:00 p.m.
