Women's Lacrosse Falls At George Fox

NEWBERG, Ore. - Madeleine Sherry and Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky both scored a pair of goals, Gracie Maulik added a goal and an assist to go along with a game-high seven groundballs, but it wasn't enough to beat preseason favorite George Fox in a 14-6 loss to the Bruins in Northwest Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Ava Bluhm led the way for George Fox with a game-high four goals to go along with five groundballs. Lana Davis added three goals and five assists.

Korin Wheaton started in goal for the Blues (4-1, 1-1 NWC) with Renn Novak inserted to start the second half. Wheaton posted seven saves on the day with Novak solid in her outing with 12 saves.

The Bruins set the tone for the outcome after taking a 6-1 lead after the opening quarter. Davis and Bluhm both scored twice in the period to help their team to a sizable early advantage.

Whitman, suffering its first loss of the season, was only outscored by one in each of the next three quarters but never mounted a serious run at George Fox tio put the outcome in question.

With Whitman now in spring break, the Blues head down to California this week for a pair of non-conference games at Occidental and Whittier.
