Women's Lacrosse Edged At Whitworth

SPOKANE, Wash. - Madeleine Sherry scored a team-high four goals, Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky added three more and a match-high four assists, but it wasn't enough as the Whitman College women's lacrosse team narrowly fell at Whitworth 13-12 in midweek Northwest Conference action on Wednesday night.

The Blues (8-6, 4-5 NWC) trailed early and scratched and clawed for the entire match until finally leveling the scoreline in the fourth quarter. After scoring the opening three goals of the second quarter, Whitman never trailed by more than two goals. As the fourth quarter got underway, Sherry and Pasena-Littlesky both scored and assisted on each other's goals to tie the game at 11-11 with 9:14 to play.

The score remained for nearly another four minutes until Campbell Vincent broke the tie with 5:21 to play, then Megan Whitman gave the Bucs some breathing room with her goal with just over one minute to play. Olivia Banuelos scored to cut the lead to one, but time ran out on the Blues as Whitworth escaped with the win.

Vincent led all scorers with six goals and Whitman chipped in two more. Korin Wheaton had a stellar game in goal for the Blues, recording 17 saves in 60 minutes with Sage Fosnock posting five for the Pirates.

Whitman finishes off the week with a Sunday, April 21st match at Puget Sound. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
