Women's Lacrosse Too Much For Whittier

WHITTIER, Calif. - Lola McConaghy scored a game-high four goals, Sarah Hawkins added three goals and three assists and the Whitman College women's lacrosse team soundly beat Whittier 19-3 on Monday evening at Memorial Stadium.

Gracie Maulik and Ellie Milesi both chipped in three more goals with Maulik adding an assist. Hawkins added five groundballs and registered one caused turnover.

The win gets the Blues started off on the right foot of a stretch of three games in as many days during their road swing to California.

Renn Novak was excellent in net for the Blues (3-2), allowing only three goals while posting seven saves for back-to-back wins. Novak and the Blues also held their opponent scoreless in the second quarter for the second straight game.

The opening half was a dominant one for the Blues who led by six goals and peppered the Poet net with 13 shots through one quarter. Whitman all but put the game away with five more goals in the second to make it a 13-1 halftime lead.

The Blues next visit Cal Lutheran on Tuesday, March 18. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
