Sarah Hawkins and
Gracie Maulik both scored two goals and four assists,
Lola McConaghy added a game-high three goals and the Whitman College women's lacrosse team dominated Eastern Oregon in their season opener, beating the Mountaineers 19-2 at the WhitLax Classic on Sunday.
Teagan Huff, Ellie Milesi and Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky also added two goals for the Blues who scored seven in the opening period. The 17-goal margin was also the largest since a win over Pacific in 2022, also a 17-goal victory.
The defense was on full display as the Blues did not allow EOU to find the back of the net until 5:34 remaining in the second quarter. Whitman allowed only one more goal which came early in the fourth quarter.
Renn Novak earned the win in net for the Blues with three saves. She played the first three quarters before being spelled for Andrea Garcia who played the final 15 minutes. Addi Bomberger posted five saves in a full game of action for EOU.
The Blues kick off Northwest Conference action next weekend when they visit Willamette and George Fox.
