Women's Lacrosse Outlasted By George Fox

NEWBERG, Ore. - Lola McConaghy scored three goals, Teagan Huff added two more to go along with one assist and the Whitman College women's lacrosse team gave perennial Northwest Conference power George Fox a scare before falling 14-8 on Saturday afternoon.

The Bruins have dominated the league for over a decade with their last loss coming all the way back in 2016. The Blues have threatened to end that streak in recent seasons, and today was an example of it.

It wasn't until the third quarter that the Bruins took their first lead. Ellie Milesi and Huff put Whitman up by a pair of goals in the first quarter, then McConaghy and Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky both scored in the second to give Whitmana 4-3 lead at the break.

George Fox found its stride with five goals in the third quarter. The Bruins scored three unanswered but back-to-back goals from Pasena-Littlesky and Sarah Hawkins tied the game.

Claire Abraham had her own response, scoring consecutive goals to end the period and give the Bruins a lead they would not relinquish.

The Blues are next at Whitworth this Saturday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m.
