Women's Lacrosse Tops Lewis & Clark On Senior Day

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Gracie Maulik equalled a game high of six goals, Sarah Hawkins and Lola McConaghy both added four more and the Whitman College women's lacrosse team delivered a 19-11 Senior Day win over Lewis & Clark in Northwest Conference action on Sunday at Hayner Field.

The game was also Senior Day for the Blues who honored Olivia Banuelos, Eliza Daigle, Taylor Hebert, Hali Lindgren, Gracie Maulik and Maia Wolverton for their years of service to Whitman lacrosse.

The win keeps the Blues (10-4, 5-1 NWC) in second in the NWC standings and one game back of George Fox who sits atop the league table. Whitman has two more games, both on the road, to solidify a spot in next month's NWC Tournament.

The Blues scored six of the game's first seven goals and pushed the lead to six after Banuelos scored to put her team up 9-3 in the second quarter.

The Pios kept pace the rest of the way and even cut the lead to three goals late in the third quarter. Whitman's attack never let up, however, as the Blues closed the game on a 7-2 run to win its home finale.

Whitman visits Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound next weekend to close the regular season.
