Women's Lacrosse Turns Back Whitworth

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Teagan Huff, Sarah Hawkins and Lola McConaghy all scored three goals to lead the Whitman College women's lacrosse team to a 13-8 win over Whitworth in Northwest Conference action on Wednesday evening.

Hawkins also tallied two assists for the Blues (7-4, 2-1 NWC) who rebounded after Sunday's narrow loss to George Fox. Renn Novak had a solid outing in net with five saves over her 60 minutes.

Campbell Vincent recorded a team-high three goals for the Pirates (4-5, 1-2 NWC) who saw the Blues pull away in the fourth quarter. Whitman led by three entering the final 15 minutes and opened the period with five unanswered goals. Hawkins scored and assisted on another during the run as her team built a 13-6 lead with 6:59 to play.

On the defensive front, Huff and Taylor Hebert both recorded three groundballs and two caused turnovers, and Olivia Banuelos posted two groundballs and five caused turnovers.

Whitman is next at Linfield this Saturday, April 12th at 1:00 p.m.
